ALCOA, Tenn. ( WATE ) — The City of Alcoa is seeking public input on potential improvements to Hall Road for both drivers and pedestrians.

The city and Tennessee Department of Transportation are conducting a corridor study regarding traffic and safety on Hall Road from Associates Boulevard to the Alcoa/Maryville city limit.

“The main traffic safety concerns we’ve seen or heard about that corridor is just overall traffic mitigation, it’s pretty full of traffic during routine hours like 4:30 p.m. and 8 a.m.,” Emily Assenmacher with the City of Alcoa said.

The road is one of the main connections between Maryville and Alcoa, and Knoxville and Maryville, for both cars and pedestrians.

“Pedestrian traffic, we do have walkways through there. Speeding is something that we hear quite often as well as safety of those that live within the Hall community, their ability to get out of the corridor,” Assenmacher said.

The city will hold a public meeting for residents to learn about the preliminary findings of the study and give their input on what improvements they’d like to see. It will be held on Tuesday, July 30 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the City of Alcoa Service Building at 725 Universal Street.

“Results based on the recommendations we get from the public could include beautification of a corridor. It could include pedestrian walkway visibility as well as traffic mitigation patterns and making sure that traffic is flowing regularly through there,” Assenmacher said.

The public input will be a part of the study, which is expected to be completed in January 2025. An online survey is also available for residents who’d like to share feedback. There is no timeline yet for any construction that may come as a result of the study.
