New little library opens outside courthouse
The Freeborn County courthouse has welcomed its very own little library. The library has been a three-year journey involving three summer interns, Katey Witt, Anika Hansen and Evan Melby, having started in 2022 with Witt, who wanted to make a free library to have near an outdoor bench. Nation of Patriots tour stops in Albert Lea

Guest column: Championing health for area’s veterans
I recently attended two poignant veteran ceremonies. On Memorial Day at Albert Lea’s Graceland Cemetery, a moving service took place where all ages attended to pay respect, and our local veterans rendered gunfire salutes to honor the fallen. On June 6, I attended the 80th-anniversary D-Day commemoration at the Normandy American Cemetery to honor my father, surviving veterans and those who sacrificed their lives to defeat Nazism. Lake Mills to Add to Its Trail System
The Lake Mills City Council is moving forward with plans to increase the trail system in the city. Lake Mills City Clerk Diane Price explained what the project entailed. The council took up Resolution 24-44 which sets dates for a public hearing and bid letting for the project. According to Price, the initial steps are in place to begin the project.
