Taylorsville Man Facing Multiple Drug Trafficking Charges
A Taylorsville man is scheduled to appear in District Court today after being arrested on drug trafficking charges last week. 42-year old Cortez Lamar Rogers was taken into custody on Thursday by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office. He was charged with felony trafficking methamphetamine, felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver methamphetamine, felony maintaining a vehicle/dwelling or place for controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest. Rogers remains in the custody of the Alexander County Detention Center under a secured bond of $100,000.
Taylorsville Man Facing Felony Drug Charges After Minor Accident
Shane Thomas Hammer, age 41 of Taylorsville, is facing a series of charges following an incident during the evening of Thursday, July 18th. The NC Highway Patrol and the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office investigated the report of a minor traffic accident. According to the arrest report, Hammer ran from the crash scene but was detained. He was charged with felony maintaining a vehicle/dwelling or place for controlled substance, felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell or deliver methamphetamine, trafficking methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, child abuse and resisting arrest. Hammer remains in the Alexander County Detention Center with a secured bond of $100,000. A court appearance is scheduled for today.
Taylorsville Man Charged With Sexual Exploitation Of Minor
The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office received a tip from federal authorities in February concerning the online activity of 35-year old Giesi Yobani Paz Avalos of Taylorsville. The information indicated that the suspect was downloading child pornography. Investigators obtained warrants and on Sunday, July 21st, Paz Avalos was taken into custody and charged with felony second and third-degree exploitation of a minor. He remains in the Alexander County Detention Center under a secured bond of $120,000. A first court appearance was scheduled for Monday in Alexander County District Court.

Statesville Man Busted By Alexander County Deputies
The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office arrested James Bruce Carter II, age 56 of Statesville, on Friday and charged him with felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. As of earlier today he remains in the Alexander County Detention Center under a secured bond of $7,500. A first court appearance is set for Monday, June 22nd in Taylorsville.
Alexander County Authorities Arrest Conover Man
Scott Bradley Huffstetler, age 31 of Conover, was arrested Friday morning by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office. He was served Catawba County warrants for first -degree trespassing and larceny after breaking and entering. Huffstetler was transferred to the Catawba County Detention Center where he remains in custody as of earlier today. A Monday appearance in Catawba County District Court is scheduled.
Alexander County Woman Arrested
Amber Dawn Shook, age 30 of Hiddenite, was taken into custody on Wednesday by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office . She was served with failure to appear warrants for possession of schedule II controlled substance, shoplifting-concealment of goods and second-degree trespass. Shook was arrested on those charges in May by Taylorsville Police. Pending charges of probation violation and school attendance violation are also awaiting trial. July 29th and September 9th are listed as court appearances.

Alexander County Woman Jailed After Missing Court Dates In Three Counties
Kimberly Anny Pyne, age 30 of Taylorsville, was arrested on Thursday by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office. She was served warrants for failure to appear from Caldwell, Catawba and Swain Counties. Pyne missed court dates in Caldwell County for larceny, in Catawba County for driving while license revoked, larceny by changing price tag, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. She missed a court date in Swain County for felony possession of methamphetamine. Pyne was jailed in Alexander County and later on Friday and later transferred to custody in Catawba County where she remains as of earlier today. He next court listed in Catawba County is July 31st.

Alexander County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Breonna Renee Parsons, age 30 of Taylorsville on Thursday. She was served warrants for failure to appear. Charges pending include felony possession of schedule II controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, second-degree trespass, larceny and a pair of probation violations. Parsons was released from custody under a secured bond of $31,000. August 12th is listed as her next court date.

Parsons was released from custody under a $31,000 secured bond. She’ll appear in Alexander County District Court on August 12.
Alexander County Deputies Charge Stony Point Man
William Paul Sherrill, age 38 of Stony Point, was taken into custody Tuesday evening by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office. He was served a warrant dating back to 2022 for felony probation violation. Sherrill is being held under a secured bond of $15,000 in the County Detention Center. Charges of assault with a deadly weapon and simple assault are pending and scheduled for court on August 20th in Taylorsville.
