A 21-year-old Alexandria man was arrested Sunday, accused of killing a man in June on Overton Street, according to the Alexandria Police Department.

Robert Drakes III was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center #1 at 11:01 p.m. on one count of second-degree murder. Bail was set at $1 million.

According to the department, Drakes was arrested in connection to the shooting that killed one person on June 18 in the 2700 block of Overton Street. Although officers chased people in a vehicle the department stated was involved in the shooting, the occupants ran from the car at Monroe Street and Louisiana Avenue.

Nobody was apprehended at the time, reads a news release.

Drakes has no court dates set yet in this case, but he is expected in the 9th Judicial Court on Aug. 21 for a pretrial hearing in another felony case. He is charged with armed robbery in a case stemming from a Dec. 29 incident in which a cellphone was stolen from someone walking on Rosemary Drive.

Metoyer was arrested the day after the incident. Online Rapides Parish Clerk of Court records show he is being held in Vernon Parish. Spearman remains in jail in downtown Alexandria since his arrest on unrelated charges on Feb. 5.

Both have a pretrial hearing in the armed robbery case on July 17.

The investigation into the homicide is continuing.
