Earthquake Shakes Illinois: Shocking Footage Inside (Video)
A 3.4 magnitude earthquake struck Northern Illinois early this morning. The earthquake occurred a little before 3 a.m. in Southern DeKalb County, near the town of Somonauk. The earthquake was felt in various locations including Winthrop Harbor, Cary, and Yorkville. Heather and Cory were awakened by the quake, initially mistaking it for a storm. Marcia in Winthrop Harbor reported feeling her house shake. A resident in Cary noticed the loud and rumbly noise, distinguishing it from thunder. Dan in Yorkville also felt the earthquake.

City Offers Special Brush Pickup Following Storms
Geneva will be providing a special citywide brush collection to help residents remove fallen trees and branches stemming from strong storms that swept through the area July 14-15. This free brush pickup is scheduled to run Monday to Friday, July 22 to 26 for residents living within the City’s municipal boundaries. Residents are asked to have their brush set at the curb for disposal by 7 a.m. July 22, and there will be no designated collection zones for this one-time operation.
