After nearly a century of business and roughly two years of closure, The Brass Rail ownership plans to reopen the restaurant on Sept. 12 at the Allentown Farmers Market.

“It’s a new chapter in The Brass Rail history,” owner Mark Sorrentino said, adding he was anxious to see the customers and employees again.

The market, located at 1825 Chew St., will host The Brass Rail toward the back near Fairgrounds Grocery, Sorrentino said. The market is open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.

The menu will include The Brass Rail’s historic options, Sorrentino previously said, including cheesesteaks, hot dogs and pierogis. Because of the market’s operating hours in the morning, the restaurant will also offer dishes featuring eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast.

Sorrentino’s grandfather, Philip, created The Brass Rail as a hamburger and hot dog stand before becoming a standalone location at 1137 Hamilton St. in 1933. The previous location at 3015 Lehigh St. closed in June of 2022.
