Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portion of Southwest Iowa
(Des Moines) A Severe Thunderstorm Watch in in effect until 11:00 p.m. for the following counties in southwest Iowa: Adair, Audubon, Carroll, Crawford, Guthrie. The National Weather Service in Des Moines says hail and tornadoes are possible, but the primary severe threat will be destructive wind gusts as the thunderstorms head eastward.

One Person Killed, Suspect Arrested in Black Hawk County Shooting
(Hudson, Iowa) -- One person is dead after a shooting Sunday in Black Hawk County. Investigators say police responded to reports of the shooting around 3:40 Sunday morning in Hudson, south of Waterloo. Police say when officers arrived, they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds. The man later died of his injuries at a local hospital. A suspect has been taken into custody.

Davenport man sentenced to over 11 years in federal prison
DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - A Davenport man was sentenced to 137 months, or 11 years and five months, in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm. According to a media release, Sylvester George Taylor Staples, 31, was found in possession of a firearm and 9.24 grams of cocaine base on July 10.
