Free lunch at fault for Cambridge-Isanti Schools’ food frenzy
It turns out there is such a thing as a free lunch, and Cambridge-Isanti Schools students are taking advantage of that. The 2023-2024 school year was the first to feature free breakfasts and lunches for all students as mandated by the Minnesota State Legislature. As could be expected, the number of meals that were served to students significantly increased. According to Cambridge-Isanti Schools Food Service Director Nate Huff, there were 523,455 lunches served in 2024, compared to 378,083 served in 2023. That is an increase of 38.5% in one year.
