SALEM, Ore. — Chinook salmon angling on the McKenzie River will close beginning Monday, July 8 through the end of the year, Oregon Dept. of Fish & Wildlife reports. ‘It’s disrespectfully hot:’ Homeless residents seek shelter in sweltering Portland
PORTLAND, Ore. — Midway through day one of a projected five-day heat wave, Governor Tina Kotek declared a statewide extreme heat emergency. Multnomah county and the city of Portland are also under emergency declarations for dangerous heat, and homeless residents spent the day fighting to escape the sun, from the banks of the Willamette River to the sidewalks in Old Town.

Heat wave? Heat dome? Either way, it doesn’t bode well
Portland’s weather will be stuck on broil for much of the next week and Western Oregon may be about to experience the longest stretch of 100-plus degree temperatures on record -- a situation meteorologists say could have knock on effects for the entire summer and bodes ill for fire season.
NBA Rumors: Blazers have high asking price for Jerami Grant in Lakers trade talks
The Portland Trail Blazers are seemingly in less rush to trade away other assets after moving on from Malcolm Brogdon. Their roster is complete, with 15 players under contract. They also cleared their backcourt logjam and are under the luxury tax. Because of these reasons, every other offseason move from here on out that general manager Joe Cronin and the Blazers make is more of a luxury than a necessity. But, if they decide to make an additional trade, one of the following players on the trade totem pole appears to be Jerami Grant.

St. Paul Rodeo adds breakaway roping event for first time in 87-year history
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — If you’ve ever been to a rodeo, you’ve heard the term “breaking the barrier”. Thankfully, Wilsonville’s Mattie Turner didn’t literally do that when she performed at the St. Paul Rodeo on Tuesday, but she certainly did do that metaphorically. “It’s history being made really, and it’s fun to be a part […]
