Former Oregon Ducks cornerback Khyree Jackson dies in car accident
Tragic news came out on Saturday morning when The Oregonian’s James Crepea reported former Oregon Ducks cornerback Khyree Jackson was killed in a car accident. Jackson was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings this spring after spending the 2023 season with the Ducks. He started his career at the junior college level before spending time with the Alabama Crimson Tide. He was selected in the fourth round of the 2024 draft after racking up 34 tackles, two sacks and three interceptions in 2023. Jackson was drawing rave reviews during minicamp and offseason workouts with the Vikings and was expected to be an early contributor as a rookie in the NFL. He was 24 years old. First heat wave of the season will bring scorching temps in the 90s and 100s across the region
Excessive Heat Alerts are in place across all of Washington, most of Oregon and Idaho this week as triple-digit temperatures arrive during the first heat wave of the year. From Saturday to Friday, the Inland Northwest will be under either an Excessive Heat Warning or Advisory as daytime highs reach well into the 90s and triple digits, especially by Tuesday and Wednesday -- Spokane is under the warning. Sunday's forecast highs will trend in the low-to-high 90s for most of eastern Washington and North Idaho, with Spokane's high temperature expected to reach 96 degrees. However, places like Lewiston, Tri-Cities, and Vantage will cruise into the triple digits.
