The Adel Parks and Recreation is holding a relaxing evening to watch a movie on Friday. The Parks & Rec is inviting people to the Island Park Campground, 2400 Nantucket Road, in Adel this coming Friday as they will be showing the movie Wonka. According to the organization, attendees can bring lawn chairs, blankets, snacks, and refreshments. Adel Parks & Rec will supply the popcorn as the movie will begin shortly after dusk.

Centennial Park's main playground gets new equipment and more shade in Waukee this fall
Waukee plans to upgrade the main playground at one of its larger parks this fall to appeal to more children and provide additional shade. Waukee City Council members unanimously approved a nearly $650,000 quote for the purchase of playground equipment, surfacing and other site amenities for Centennial Park's nearly 25-year-old central playground on July 15.

KNOXVILLE, Iowa — A Knoxville home sustained fire, heat, smoke and water damage during a house fire on Sunday afternoon. According to the Knoxville Fire Department, the fire was reported shortly after 2 p.m. Sunday. When crews arrived, they found smoke pushing from the roof and eaves of the house.

WINTERSET, Iowa — It's been one year since former Winterset Chief of Police Ken Burke passed away unexpectedly after serving his community for 20 years. Burke was well-known in the city of over 5,000 residents, and was referred to as the "epitome of police officers" by people who knew him best. ADM Softball Starts State Tourney Today Against Fort Dodge
The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Softball team gears up for their first postseason game of the 2024 season today in Fort Dodge. The Tigers will be battling versus the host school of the Fort Dodge Dodgers this afternoon at 5:15pm. This will be the sixth meeting between these teams as the Dodgers has taken all five previously. Last year, ADM fell 8-3 to Fort Dodge in the Class 4A Quarterfinal game. Before that, the Tigers took on the Dodgers in 2021, 2020, then two games in 2012.
