Proposed homeless ordinance for Des Moines is unethical
Jason Benell lives in Des Moines with his wife and two children. He is a combat veteran, former city council candidate, and president of Iowa Atheists and Freethinkers. Many are concerned about the direction the Des Moines City Council is taking, particularly concerning the homeless population—some of our least fortunate neighbors and fellow citizens. This approach lays bare the apparent goal of the sitting councilors who support this policy: they do not believe unhoused folks deserve the same level of respect and dignity as other citizens. They are willing to cast them outside of the Des Moines city limits, if not completely outside of our society.

David’s Evening Forecast - Summer heat and humidity returning this week
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Partly sunny skies this afternoon helped temperatures to warm back into the low 80s for most of the area, a little warmer than what we saw yesterday. Clouds bubbled up in the warmth of the afternoon, however most of the area did stay dry. A few isolated showers popped up in parts of western Iowa, but those showers should fade away by 7pm as we start to cool off. Temperatures will drop back into the 70s after sunset, and we should see temperatures in the 60s once again overnight. Just like we saw early on Sunday, some patchy fog is likely late tonight and early on Monday.
Storm chances continue the next few days before tapering off by midweek

Unfortunately the cost of this rain was canceled northern Iowa state fair events in Mason City earlier today. As the sun sets any lingering shower...
