ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) — The Altoona Curve has welcomed catcher Henry Davis, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates, back to Curve, PA.

Davis made his debut for the Curve Wednesday evening behind the plate. Davis went hitless in three at-bats but drew two walks and scored a run.

Davis became the fourth player in Altoona Curve history to be selected first overall and suit up for the team following his debut in 2022. He follows RHP Kris Benson, RHP Bryan Bullington and RHP Gerrit Gole.

The Curve said Davis will be off on Thursday and is expected to return to the lineup on Friday against the Akron RubberDucks. This could be subject to change as he recovers from a concussion. Davis was injured in a game on Friday, June 14 against the Colorado Rockies after taking a foul ball to his face mask. He’s been on the DL since.
