    Altoona man found with $13K in drugs, guns during search, police said

    ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) — A sealed search warrant for an Altoona home led to the arrest of a man who allegedly had more than $13k worth of heroin.

    Ronnell Sowell, 48, was taken into custody by the Altoona police and Blair County Drug Task Force after a search of 112 16th Street at 6 a.m. Friday, June 28.

    While searching the residence, police said they found the following in the home:

    • $8,847 in U.S. currency
    • 871 packets of heroin with a reported street value of $13,065
    • Davis Industries 380 caliber handgun
    • Heritage 32 caliber revolver
    • SCCY 9mm handgun
    • Multiple digital scales and assorted drug paraphernalia

    Sowell, also known as “Roach,” was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant and found to be a convicted felon — someone not allowed to have a firearm.

    Sowell was arraigned on felony gun and drug charges and placed in Blair County Prison with bail set at $150,000.
