ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) — While watching for a wanted man, Altoona police arrested someone they said was known to sell heroin out of the man’s home.

Deven Gregory Harris, 23, was arrested last week after police said he showed up while they were on the lookout for Robert “Bobby” Goss — who has been on the Altoona police’s most wanted list for several weeks now.

Police said Harris and two others showed up at the residence in the area of 17th Street and 14th Avenue Thursday, June 27 at around 6:42 p.m., charges show. Harris spotted one of the officers and clutched his bag before talking to the other two with him. The three split up and left, never making it to the house police were watching.

According to the criminal complaint, Harris was found after evading police while trying to hide in some tall grass. Police said they backtracked his path and found a handgun up against a bush between two houses. The homeowners told police they didn’t know Harris and there shouldn’t have been a gun where they said they found it.

Harris allegedly refused to cooperate and tell police any information about himself or where he lived. He was identified by an Altoona officer who was familiar with him, saying his nickname was “Chop.”

Police said Harris had suspected heroin, ecstasy and crack cocaine in his bag along with $372 in U.S. currency.

Charges show that Harris continued to be defiant and refused to divulge any identifying information at Blair County Prison. Police said he was uncooperative during a strip search and placed in a cell without running water so he couldn’t dispose of anything he may have had.
