ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) — A duo from outside of the contiguous United States was arrested in Altoona after an alleged multi-state crime spree targeting older Americans, Logan Township Police announced Thursday.

Luz Dary Fandino Rodriguez, 48, of Colombia, and Hanster Sepulveda, 37, of Puerto Rico, were arrested July 3 after their rental car was pinged at Dollar Tree, 700 Valley View Boulevard. Police said the duo were suspects in a multi-state crime spree targeting elderly citizens at Aldi supermarkets spanning Kentucky to Pennsylvania.

Rodriguez and Sepulveda allegedly gave police false Puerto Rico driver’s licenses before being taken to Altoona Police Department to be fingerprinted and identified.

While dealing with the duo, police said they were informed of a recent theft of a wallet at Weis Market in Park Hills Plaza. Police determined through the investigation that the duo had struck there and used the victim’s credit card to buy almost $1,000 worth of items at Target before being found at Dollar Tree.
