ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) — Arts Altoona is kicking off a Summer Art Program in a few days, and they want to invite your child to join.

The classes will be every Tuesday from July 23 through August 20 at the Arts Altoona building located at 2212 6th Avenue. Classes are one hour from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Parents can attend classes if they would like, but it is not required for them to stay for the entire session.

The summer art program is free for any students who are entering grade 3 and goes up until grade 6. Each week, children will learn new artistic techniques and ideas with different projects, while also giving them a creative outlet to express themselves.

“You know, a lot of kids are involved in support programs and things like that. This this would be for those kids that like art and music and maybe would like to round out a little bit. And we do free programming. So we really do try to reach our local neighborhood and beyond,” Kathrine Muller, Board Vice President for Arts Altoona said.

Arts Altoona says that if parents have any vacations or plans scheduled during the class times, they can still bring their children. Kids do not need to attend every week to be able to participate in the program.

If you have any questions about the program or want your child to join, you can email osteele@artsaltoona.org .

Arts Altoona will also be having a yard sale on July 19 in order to clear out items that they do not use. The organization is also getting ready to launch an art walk brochure for Downtown Altoona.
