Badgett Family Makes Significant Multi-Year Gift To Murray State

Murray State University has announced that the Badgett family and the J. Rogers Badgett Sr. Foundation of Madisonville, Kentucky, have made a significant multi-year commitment to the College of Education and Human Services through the Murray State University Foundation. The Badgett family has a rich history of supporting education throughout western Kentucky and began their support of Murray State more than 15 years ago. The family honors the legacy of Mr. Rogers Badgett, who established the Badgett Construction Company and Badgett Mine Stripping Corporation (1943-1976). Mr. Badgett was known as a “Working Man’s Man”; however, he understood the need for formal education and support. Throughout his life, he found many ways to encourage and promote the importance of higher education.

Bud Hudson League receives record donation
The Bud Hudson Junior Pro Football League is still in its early phases of the 2024 season, but already it has scored a touchdown. According to a press release from the league Thursday morning, former Hopkinsville High School All-State linebacker Steven Kelley and his wife Tracy have purchased 200 uniforms including tops and bottoms for players in the league. The uniforms cost nearly $20,000, which is believed to be the largest single gift to the Bud Hudson League by a private citizen in its 73 years of operation.
