Man facing assault, resisting arrest, DUI charges after crash
John Beighle, 34, from Butler, faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and DUI, after crashing his vehicle into a ditch in Irwin Township. When police arrived, Beighle showed signs of being under the influence and admitted to using several drugs. At the hospital, he became combative, kicking both a trooper and a security officer. After being restrained and taken to the state police barracks, he continued to resist. At Venango County jail, corrections officers found drugs, including 142 pills and LSD strips, in his belongings. Beighle was arraigned and jailed after failing to post bail, with a preliminary hearing set for next Wednesday.
1 injured in shootout in Clairton
CLAIRTON, Pa. (KDKA) — One person was shot in Clairton on Thursday afternoon.Police responded to Marion Circle at around 4 p.m. after the shots were fired near a crowd. A source told KDKA-TV that it was "an incredible amount of rounds fired." Witnesses said they heard 35 gunshots, and at least one window of a vehicle was shot out. One man was shot in the leg. He was taken to a local hospital in stable condition. Police said the initial investigation found the injured man and two additional men engaged in a shootout. "At this time, all three individuals are accounted for and detectives will work with the district attorney's office to determine appropriate charges," police said in a news release. Police are investigating.
