AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Gracie’s Project on Friday saved four puppies following an anonymous tip that led them to the dogs after they had been abandoned.

Casey Minier, a board member with Gracie’s Project said they got a call Friday afternoon about some puppies who had been abandoned on 58th and Tradewind.

“Two of them were dead and we were able to save four of them. They were covered in ticks and fleas, they were emaciated. It wasn’t good. They were thirsty, starving,” said Minier.

Minier said they took them out to Cadillac Vet and once tested out there, they discovered the puppies also had parvo.

“They told us if we hadn’t probably brought them in any sooner, they probably would have passed away,” said Minier.

He added they all needed blood transfusions and shots on the first day.

“It’s taken a toll on them, but they are actually starting to come through…They are actually looking like, starting to be some pups now. They got a little life to them and they are starting to come around now,” said Minier.

Minier said once the puppies are healthy, they will be up for adoption.

“We want to make sure they are fully good, everything is good with the pups, we want to make sure they are able to eat and drink everything and make sure the parvo is gone, after that we will have them up for adoption and they are already about, I’d say two or three months old probably if that,” said Minier.

Right now, Minier said these puppies just need some TLC and to be watched over to make sure they are improving.

“Right now, they probably just need some TLC. They really just need to be watched over and make sure their improving. Parvo is not a good deal, it can definitely take a pup in a matter of days, or minutes, so we want to make sure they are on the right track getting the best care that they can,” said Minier.

The four puppies have been given the names John, Sarah, Elizabeth, and Esther.

Minier said if anyone would like to help Gracie’s Project, you can do so by going to their website.
