On Tuesday afternoon, East County was hit by a series of glacially paced thunderstorms that formed between 200 and 250 lightning bolts, according to the San Diego Tribune.

Conditions were especially rough between 2 and 4pm in the Pine Valley area. During this time around half the bolts hit the landscape, but it doesn’t look like any wildfires were spawned from the event.

Aside from the lightning, the storms generated a large amount of hail near Pine Valley, with wind gusts getting up to 40mph.
