A Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy has been terminated and arrested after being accused of sneaking contraband into the Calcasieu Correctional Center.

Spokesperson Kayla Vincent said detectives received information earlier this week in reference to Christopher T. Ryan, 28, bringing contraband in the CCC for inmates and receiving payments in exchange.

Vincent said after speaking with detectives on Tuesday, Ryan was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with malfeasance in office; and contraband in penal institutions prohibited.

Judge Tony Fazzio set his bond at $150,000.

Prior to being terminated by Sheriff Stitch Guillory, Ryan worked as a correctional deputy and had been with the department for 1 year.

“We take accusations such as this extremely serious and acted swiftly, beginning an investigation, in response to the tip we received,” Guillory said. “As sheriff, it is my duty to uphold the highest standards of integrity within our department.  When a deputy betrays the trust of this office and the community by engaging in criminal activity, there is no room for leniency.  We will not tolerate any actions that compromise the safety and security of our facility, staff, or the public we serve.  Our investigation is continuing to determine exactly what contraband was introduced into the facility as well as ensure no others are involved.”

Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) Detective Sabrina Hays is the lead investigator on this case.
