There’s a rumor that Charli XCX and Billie Eilish have shaded Taylor Swift in their new remix of Charli’s song “Guess” from her popular recent album Brat. Fans are speculating that the two are dissing Swift based on a new lyric as well as previous comments and actions from both Eilish and Charli.

Apparently, the alleged shade comes at the end of “Guess” when Billie and Charli whisper to each other, You wanna guess what me and Billie have been textin’ about? (You’ve been disrespectful)/ Still tryin’ to guess the password to my Google Drive (Are you obsessed with me?)/ You wanna guess the address of the party we’re at (You really are not invited).

According to some fans, this is a diss at Swift, who released several variations of her newest album The Tortured Poets Department. This led her to stay firmly planted at the top of the charts, beating out both Eilish and Charli XCX for No. 1. Additionally, Eilish previously called out artists who put out multiple physical variations of their albums, calling it “wasteful.” Eilish, for her part, only put out one version of her newest album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, plus the vinyl was almost completely made of recycled material. Additionally, at no point did she mention Swift by name. Still, some Swifties took this as a personal slight.

Billie Eilish Previously Set the Record Straight About Her Comments; Will She Do That Again?

At the time (this past April), Eilish put out a statement on her social media that disproved the rumors and speculation. “Okay so it would be so awesome if people would stop putting words into my mouth and actually read what I said in that Billboard article,” she wrote on her Instagram story. “I wasn’t singling anyone out, these are industry-wide systemic issues. & when it comes to variants, so many artists release them – including ME! Which I clearly state in the article.”

Presently, Eilish is caught up in more shade speculations. However, there is really no proof that the “Guess” lyric is shading anyone in particular, let alone Taylor Swift. There’s the possibility that either people are tired of Taylor Swift and are looking for reasons to hate her, or rather that people simply want to make stuff up for clout. Is it possible Billie Eilish will take to social media again and set the record straight? One can only hope she does before the Swiftie rumor mill gets out of control. Take a listen to “Guess” for yourself and draw your own conclusions.
