On August 2, Garbage issued a statement announcing the cancelation of their 2024 tour after lead vocalist Shirley Manson suffered an injury that required surgery. Now, Manson has taken to social media to update fans on her health.

“I came home from tour an absolute hot mess,” she began. “So broken that my poor husband had to push me through Heathrow and LAX airports in a wheelchair. I also had a dose of laryngitis and a massive cold sore on my lip.”

She continued, “Anyway the point of this whole story is: I was freaking out that I had somehow managed to damage my vocal cords on top of everything else but yesterday I was scoped and everything is as it should be. These are my vocal cords. My doctor said they were beautiful.”

Dresden Dolls singer Amanda Palmer commented, “Not a node in sight,” in reference to Manson’s healthy vocal cords. Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs commented, “Solid gold pipes.” Actress and comedian Patti Harrison joked, “Don’t give this away for free!!!!!”

Garbage previously posted the tour cancelation on Instagram, writing, “It is with great and sincere regret that we announce the cancelation of all our remaining tour dates for the rest of the year due to an injury that Shirley sustained on our recent tour in Europe that will require surgery and rehabilitation to correct.”

The band added, “This is not a decision we have taken lightly and we apologize wholeheartedly to our amazing fans and supportive promoters. We look forward to playing for you all again in 2025.”

In the post’s caption, Shirley Manson wrote, “No one is more crushed about this than I am. You know I would push through if I could.”
