The Deslondes announced their forthcoming studio album Roll It Out in June with the lead single “Take Me Back.” Then, they shared “I’ll Do It” with the world. Today, the New Orleans-based band is giving fans another sample of the album with the new track “Lies I’ve Told.” Check it out below.

The Deslondes made waves with their comeback album Ways & Means in 2022. Now, they’re looking to return to their roots with Roll It Out. The new album drops on September 6 via New West Records.

“It reminds me of back when we were starting out before we were even the Deslondes—back when we were the Tumbleweeds,” John James Tourville said of the new album. “It’s like we’re moving forward to get to where we were.”

The Deslondes’ Dan Cutler on “Lies I’ve Told”

Deslondes’ bassist/vocalist Dan Cutler penned “Lies I’ve Told” after a storm hit New Orleans. He spoke about the inspiration for the song in a statement.

“A few years back, there was a hurricane named Zeta that came through New Orleans,” Cutler shared in a statement. “As with all hurricanes, there was the feeling of doom and reckoning that accompanied its arrival. Zeta was a little different, though, in that it passed directly over the city. The eye settled over my neighborhood right at dusk,” he recalled. “The clouds parted for about half an hour to reveal a beautiful sunset. The power was out so I walked around for a bit and the streets were empty, there was debris everywhere. It was very still and beautiful, also eerie and apocalyptic. I went home and wrote this Omega Man-themed love song.”
