The Olympic Games come to an end on August 11 with a promising closing ceremony. The opening ceremony brought out all the best of Paris celebrating the spirit of the city with art, music, and the parade of countries down the River Seine. Now, the closing ceremony has a lot to live up to. It will be handed off to Los Angeles as the next host of the Games, but undoubtedly L.A. has something creative up its sleeve.

As for the musical performances, Snoop Dog—who has been the special correspondent for NBC throughout the Games—is slated to perform. Additionally, Billie Eilish and the Red Hot Chili Peppers will perform as well. These are some of Los Angeles’ biggest artists, and they are set to represent the city during the ceremony.

Alongside three other L.A. staples, H.E.R., who is also from California, will perform the American national anthem. There will be a mix of pre-taped and live performances during the closing ceremony, along with an alleged stunt from Tom Cruise that will land him on top of the Hollywood sign.

Three Iconic L.A. Artists Will Close Out the Olympic Games in 2028 Host City

Snoop Dogg, Billie Eilish, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers are all Los Angeles natives and huge voices in the music industry from the 80s, 90s, and today.

Snoop Dogg has a prolific West Coast rap career spanning decades, while the Red Hot Chili Peppers became an influential band in the L.A. funk-grunge-punk scene. Billie Eilish, meanwhile, has become a notable pop voice of her generation. Her 2021 concert film, Happier Than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles, showcased various L.A. landmarks, culture, and creativity.

H.E.R. is another California native who is representing the next Olympic host city. While she was born in Vallejo and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, she is still a notable figure in the L.A. music industry.

As for Tom Cruise, Hollywood’s favorite maverick, he will allegedly be rappelling from the top of the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, holding the Olympic flag. This performance will then be followed by a pre-recorded feature of him skydiving to the top of the Hollywood sign, cutting the trip all the way from France to deliver the flag into a manageable segment.
