A recent social media announcement has left the future of The Voice unclear after one of the show’s coaches announced an abrupt show cancellation due to a mysterious injury. A week before pop star and Voice coach Gwen Stefani was to perform at Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena in Atlantic City, she posted a brief message on Instagram announcing the show’s cancellation.
She offered little details in the post, leaving many fans to wonder what the immediate future holds for both Stefani’s performance schedule and the popular vocal competition show.

‘The Voice’ Coach Announces Cancellation Due to Injury
Gwen Stefani posted the brief message on her Instagram stories on August 10. “As a result of a recent injury and in consultation with my doctors, I’ve been advised that I’m not able to perform on August 17 at Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena in Atlantic City. I’m so sorry.”
“We are planning to reschedule the show as soon as possible,” Stefani continued. “Ticketmaster will email ticket holders as soon as the new show is announced. Current tickets will be valid for the new date.” With little additional information about the type of injury Stefani has, many fans are wondering how serious it might be.
Given that Stefani announced the cancellation a week before the show, it’s clear that whatever the injury is requires a relatively significant recovery period. Stefani’s website lists her next show as the iHeart Radio Music Festival in Las Vegas on September 20, 2024, which might mean that she expects to recover within the month. However, her canceled August 17 date is still on the website as well, so we can’t be 100 percent sure about the subsequent shows.
Gwen Stefani Has Suffered Career-Affecting Injuries Before
Unfortunately, this is not the first time that Gwen Stefani’s injuries forced her to cancel shows in recent memory. In 2017, Stefani canceled a show in Las Vegas after her eardrum ruptured on a flight. While the injury certainly sounded painful, it wasn’t enough to put her down for too long. As partner and fellow Voice coach Blake Shelton told Entertainment Tonight, “She’ll be alright. She’s tough.”
“I think the cabin pressure in her airplane…she had a head cold, and then once they got up to a certain altitude, [pop],” Shelton continued (via TODAY). “They say not to fly if you have a head cold, but we all do. That’s the thing that I guess can happen.”
Although Stefani’s doctors recommended she avoid flying until her eardrum healed, the recovery period only took a matter of days. For the sake of Stefani and Voice fans everywhere, here’s to hoping she has a similar time frame for whatever injury caused her to cancel her upcoming Atlanta City show.
