Finding the perfect mix between heavy metal and hip hop, Linkin Park not only dominated the airwaves but the entire music industry. Selling over 100 million albums, the band was behind iconic songs like “Crawling” and “In the End.” Back in 2014, Kerrang! Declared them to be “The Biggest Rock Band in the World Right Now.” With each new album, the band expanded their fanbase and careers as they won two Grammy Awards. Sadly, tragedy struck in July 2017 when Chester Bennington took his own life. With the music industry heartbroken over the loss, the band disappeared. But recently, a mysterious countdown clock appeared that had many wondering if Linkin Park was getting back together.

Posting a 100-hour countdown clock on their website and social media account, Linkin Park caused a mountain of rumors to swirl around the group. The same time was also posted on the account for Welcome to Rockville. Some fans believed Linkin Park looked to get the band back together for the Danny Wimmer Presents festival taking place in May 2025. The countdown clock will end on August 28 at 11:00 a.m.

Who Will Take Over For Chester Bennington In Linkin Park?

As for who will take over for Bennington, an entirely different set of rumors claimed Linkin Park looked to add a female to the lineup. Orgy’s Jay Gordon supported the claims, saying, “Don’t quote me on that. I’m not sure who the singer is going to be, but I heard it was gonna be female. They might just try to move on like that. That ought to be interesting.” Gordon would take his words back, suggesting fans took his words as fact.

One of the names following the rumor included Amy Lee from Evanescence. Back in April, Lee opened up about the rumors to set the record straight. She said, “I have not heard that. No, I have not been contacted by them or anything like that. But [I’m a] huge fan feel like our worlds, our fanbases are a lot of the same people.” She added, “That’s really sweet. We never… Well, did we play shows? I don’t know if we were on a festival together or whatever. We met. We were in the studio at the same time. When we were making ‘Fallen’, I just briefly got to have a conversation or two with Chester. He was really sweet.”

Ending the rumors, Lee insisted, “It’s not true.” What does the future hold for Linkin Park, be sure to check in on August 28th to find out.
