Wyatt Flores released his debut single, “Travelin’ Kid” in 2021 and it caught the ear of independent country music fans. Then, he made waves with songs like “Losing Sleep” and “Please Don’t Go” in 2022. Later that year, he released his debut EP, The Hutson Sessions. In 2023, Flores released his Life Lessons EP followed by this year’s Half Life EP. Now, the Oklahoma native is preparing to unleash his debut full-length album, Welcome to the Plains.

Flores announced the forthcoming album this morning (August 26) on Twitter. “My name is Wyatt Flores. I was born and raised on the Oklahoma Plains and you’re gonna hear that in my music,” he wrote in the post. “The songs I write are stories from my life and my home, and I can’t wait to share the first one with you Friday,” he added. The post also contained an album trailer for Welcome to the Plains. Watch it below.

Wyatt Flores Built a Following with Authenticity

Wyatt Flores has come a long way in the past few years. He went from being a songwriter wanting to be heard to being hailed as country’s “next big thing.” Today, he has millions of monthly listeners and hundreds of millions of streams on Spotify alone.

Flores built that large and passionate following through his authenticity and vulnerability. Many fans can relate to the songs that he sings. More than that, they walk away from listening to his music feeling like they know him a little better each time. After all, his songs are just chapters taken from the story of his life.

It seems that Flores will go deeper into his story with his forthcoming album. “Everyone’s trying to make it out but at the same time, you don’t want to leave,” he says of his home on the plains in the album trailer. “You have to find beauty in the worst of it all. That’s what I love about this place,” he added.

“When we were writing Welcome to the Plains, it was me trying to figure out a way to paint this imagery the way I view it if I was just daydreaming about it going down a highway that’s not around here,” he explained. “The people around here are what make it home.”

Flores didn’t share a release date for his debut album but the first single will drop this Friday (August 30).
