Off-Duty Cop Who Urinated on a Woman During a Kenny Chesney Concert Gets Off Scott Free After Paying a Pittance to the Courts

Kenny Chesney wrapped up his Sun Goes Down Tour last weekend with three nights at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Chesney brought plenty of good vibes and great songs. At the same time, the booze was flowing. In short, most of the stadium crowd was having a great time. Unfortunately, one off-duty cop in the audience couldn’t hold his liquor—or his bladder—and ruined a fellow concertgoer’s night during the Saturday (August 24) show.

According to a police report, an unnamed woman was standing in the pit enjoying the show when she felt something warm splashing on her leg. She turned around to see a man with his fly open urinating on her boots. She called security who then contacted the Needham Police Department who dispatched a pair of officers to the scene. Adding insult to injury, the victim was wearing brand-new $180 Ariat boots that she bought to wear to the show.

Officer Joseph Brienze detailed his first contact with the suspect, an off-duty Cranston PD officer named Shane Lynch. “Upon arrival, I located a male party who appeared to be extremely intoxicated. The male party was holding a Bud Light can, swaying back and forth, and his eyes were almost closed,” he wrote in the report. “When I stood in front of Shane his zipper was down and his shorts appeared wet,” he added.

According to the arrest report, while speaking to the venue’s security supervisor, Lynch once again exposed himself and began urinating mid-conversation. At that time, he was cuffed and taken into custody.

One would think that Shane Lynch would be facing serious charges and professional consequences after exposing himself in public and urinating on a woman. However, according to a local NBC affiliate, Lynch was charged with disorderly conduct and destruction of property. Additionally, Cranston Police Chief Michael Winquist called the incident a “personnel matter.” His only statement on the matter was, “We are aware of the arrest and will handle the matter administratively.”

Even those relatively light charges didn’t stick, though. Lynch reportedly paid $100 in court costs during his arraignment to have the charges dismissed. Additionally, stadium security issued him a trespass order.

It appears that the only real punishment that Lynch will face from this incident is being known as the off-duty cop who urinated on a woman at a Kenny Chesney show.
