The illustrious Jacksons discovered Paula Abdul after seeing her in action as head choreographer for the Los Angeles Laker Girls. Her 1988 debut Forever Your Girl sold 7 million copies and spawned four No. 1 hits, including “Straight Up.” Now 62, the “Cold Hearted” singer was preparing to embark on her Straight Up! To Canada Tour this month. Unfortunately for her fans in the Great White North, Abdul is scrapping that tour as she contends with some health issues.

In a post to X/Twitter Wednesday (Sept. 4,) Paula Abdul gave fans the disappointing news. The “Vibeology” singer has canceled all upcoming Canada shows, along with other dates in North Dakota and Alaska.

The former longtime American Idol judge has been receiving “targeted injections” to assist in healing from recent injuries. While the procedure does provide temporary relief, “the demands of an entire tour is a different story,” Abdul wrote.

One of the injuries will require a minor procedure, which will sideline the “Opposites Attract” singer for six to eight weeks as she recovers.

Ticket refunds are available at the point of purchase, Abdul said. The pop star extended her “deepest apologies” to her fans.

“[You] mean the world to me and this truly breaks my heart,” she wrote. “I’ve been looking forward to the energy, love, and connection we always share when we’re together. I promise I’ll be back, stronger and better, dancing my heart out and performing for all of you very soon, to give you the show you deserve.”

“Wishing You All The Best:” Fans Respond To Cancelled Tour

Fans showed their support in the comments. “Health first. Wishing you all the best and a full recovery,” one X/Twitter user wrote.

“Here’s to hoping you’re back soon, because a galaxy without your grooves is just a bit less funky,” Wave ’80s Radio wrote.

Paula Abdul was set to kick off her tour Sept. 25 at Save-On-Foods Memorial Center in Victoria, British Columbia. She was planning to hit more than 20 stops before wrapping up Oct. 26 in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
