Cypress Erickson, Anthony Eaton voted the Ames Tribune's Athletes of the Week

Collins-Maxwell softball player Cypress Erickson and Nevada baseball player Anthony Eaton were voted the Ames Tribune female and male Athlete of the Week winners for the week of June 17-23.

Erickson won female Athlete of the Week with 72% of the vote. Ames softball player Kaylee Mescher came in second with 20%.

She led the Collins-Maxwell softball team's offensive charge during its 14-0 victory over Baxter on Friday. Erickson went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and three steals against the Bolts. She scored three runs and drove in four.

Eaton blew away the field for male Athlete of the Week. He won with 71% of the vote and Ballard baseball player Eli Rouse took second with 8%.

Eaton had a strong pair of games at the plate for the Nevada baseball team during lopsided victories over Greene County (16-1) on Monday, June 17, and South Tama County (13-2) on June 18.

In the victory over Greene County, Eaton finished 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. He went 2-for-2 with a walk and two RBIs in the win over South Tama.
