(Ames, IA) – Michael Naperalsky has been named the Director of Strength and Conditioning for Olympic Sports for Iowa State. This comes after Naperalsky served for eight seasons at the University of Louisville.

The Granger, Indiana native started at Louisville in 2016 as the assistant director of sports performance focusing on the assessment, programming, and coaching to minimize injury risk while maximizing athletic development. Before Louisville, Naperalsky served as the strength and conditioning coach with the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association from 2010-16. Throughout his career, he helped some of the top athletes earn three Olympic medals, six World Championship medals, and 93 World Cup podium finishes.

“I am thrilled to welcome Michael as the new Director of Strength and Conditioning for Olympic Sports at Iowa State,” senior associate athletics director Shamaree Brown said. “He is highly respected and celebrated by his peers and coaches. His vision and vigor for sports performance will undoubtedly positively impact the holistic development of our student-athletes.”

Naperalsky formally earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Ball State in 2006 and then earned his master’s degree in health and human performance in 2009 from Montana.
