Iowa State basketball adds four-star guard Jamarion Batemon to 2025 class

Iowa State men's basketball added its third, and perhaps most-heralded, prospect to its 2025 class on Monday when Jamarion Batemon committed to the Cyclones.

Batemon is a four-star recruit from Milwaukee, according to 247Sports' ratings and the No. 11 shooting guard in the class. He is the No. 54 overall prospect in the 2025 class. He held offers from Clemson, Illinois, Marquette, West Virginia and several other Division I programs.

"They just showed consistency," Batemon said of Iowa State in a commitment video with 247Sports . "They were one of the first schools to reach out to me and they just showed consistency throughout the whole entire recruiting process. Despite other schools coming in and giving their best shot, they just stayed with it and showed up. Overall, I just feel like they are the best place to be."

Batemon ranks as one of the top-10 best recruits in Iowa State history, according to 247Sports' all-time rankings. He joins three-star recruits Xzavion Mitchell (small forward, also from Wisconsin) and Macari Moore (point guard, Ann Arbor, Michigan) in the 2025 class.

Batemon, for a 6-foot-3 guard, has a lot of length to be able to defend and could cause havoc for opposing backcourts. However, his high recruiting rankings come from finding ways to get the ball in the hoop. With elite speed, he can cut and score to the basket at will and he is an elite scorer from beyond the arc.

Above all, however, Batemon wants to "be a dog" for the Cyclones.

"Obviously, I can score the ball, but I want to do the little things," Batemon said. "I want to defend, dive on the floor, rebound the ball and just do whatever I can to help the team win."
