(Ames, IA) – Iowa State’s Jeremiah Cooper, Jayden Higgins, and Stevo Klotz have been named to the Preseason All-Big 12 Football team, as voted by media representatives.

Defensive back Cooper, who earned First Team All-Big 12 honors last year, leads the Cyclone secondary. The El Paso native started 11 games in 2023, ranking second in the Big 12 and sixth nationally with five interceptions, and fourth nationally in passes defended per game (1.4).

On offense, wide receiver Higgins, an Honorable Mention All-Big 12 selection last season, led the team with 983 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 53 receptions. The South Miami native averaged 18.5 yards per catch, the seventh-best single-season average in school history, and was second in the Big 12 with 75.6 receiving yards per game.

Tight end/fullback Klotz, a Second Team All-Big 12 fullback in 2023, is one of the league’s top blockers. He played all 13 games last season, starting six, and caught seven passes for 60 yards and a touchdown.

Iowa State, returning 18 starters (nine on offense and nine on defense), was picked sixth in the Big 12 Preseason Poll, trailing Utah, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Kansas, and Arizona.
