Humor writer David Sedaris is returning to Ames to perform at Stephens Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 24.

“We are so pleased to welcome back Mr. Sedaris to the Stephens stage,” Tammy Koolbeck, executive director of Stephens, said in a news release. “His last visit was in October 2010 and we are excited he is playing Ames on this tour.”

Sedaris’ most recent book, “Happy-Go-Lucky,” debuted at No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list. The audio version of the book, written and narrated by Sedaris, won the 2023 Audie Award.

Sedaris’ work has earned him many awards, including the Terry Southern Prize for Humor, Thurber Prize for American Humor, Jonathan Swift International Literature Prize for Satire and Humor, Time 2001 Humorist of the Year Award, and the Medal for Spoken Language from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.

In 2020 the New York Public Library named “Me Talk Pretty One Day” as one of the 125 most important books of the last 125 years.
