Large crowds come together for Amherst’s annual 4th of July fireworks celebration

AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – It was also a day full of celebration and excitement in Amherst as people came together to celebrate America’s Independence!

The town’s biggest event of the year, brought large crowds to UMass Amherst’s McGuirk Alumni Stadium. Many were excited to be a part of the annual event dressed up in their best red, white, and blue ensembles. It featured a beer garden, food vendors, live music performances, a kids carnival, and fireworks.

“I think anytime you have a chance to bring this many people together, to do so with sort of a community intent, I think it’s a it’s a good time,” said Director of Amherst Recreation Department, Rey Harp.

“I love the people and the food. The food’s really good, and the fireworks are pretty good, too,” added Morgan Seo of Amherst.
