    Pedestrian killed in Lamb County crash early Wednesday, says DPS

    A pedestrian died Wednesday morning in Lamb County after being struck by a vehicle.

    According to the Texas Department of Safety, a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was traveling west on Farm to Market Road 1055 in Amherst when it struck Anna Belle Byrd, 88, around 5:38 a.m. this morning.

    Byrd was pronounced dead due to injuries received in the crash. No other injuries were reported.

    According to DPS's investigation, it appears that Byrd was in the roadway when she was struck by the pickup, but no other details about the accident were given as of noon Wednesday.

    At the time of the crash, DPS reported road conditions to be dry and with clear weather conditions.
