Appomattox FFA members win big at Central Virginia Livestock Show
This spring, 14 Appomattox FFA members raised livestock to participate in the Central Virginia Livestock Show (CVLS) at the Lynchburg Livestock Market on May 3 and 4. These individuals have spent four meticulous months working with their livestock animals to feed, groom and halter-break their goats, lambs and cattle, and train their hogs. The show was judged by Cole Reeves of Augusta, Va. Agricultural Educator Jacob Lewis was the official for the carcass show.

GLCF makes Grant Award to BUG
The Greater Lynchburg Community Foundation (GLCF) has presented a $1600 Grant Award to Bedford Urban Gardens (BUG) as a recipient in the foundation’s Spring 2024 Competitive Cycle. This award will enable BUG to implement Phase Two of their Replacement Bed Project which is in the works to replace 23 of the oldest raised beds, which were constructed of wood in 2014.

2 arrested; 2 lbs of meth found in Lynchburg, officials say
CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WSET) — Two people were arrested in the Lynchburg area after officials said they found more than two pounds of methamphetamine. According to the Campbell County Sheriff's Office, the search warrant was served on June 27 as a group effort by the Central Va. Drug & Gang task force along with CCSO, the Appomattox County Sheriff's Office, the Amherst County Sheriff's Office and the Lynchburg Police Department.
