    Standoff between law enforcement, man who shot at officers in Baraboo ends

    AMHERST, Wis. -- A standoff in the Village of Amherst between law enforcement and a man accused of shooting at officers ended with the man being located Friday evening, CBS News affiliate WSAW-TV reports.

    Jeffrey Miller, 32, was wanted after allegedly shooting at police officers in Baraboo Tuesday night. Law enforcement tracked Miller to a home in the Village of Amherst Thursday night but he allegedly refused to surrender and fired more shots at officers.

    Those living in the area were asked to shelter in place and stay away from windows.

    PREVIOUS COVERAGE: Stevens Point Police Chief Robert Kussow is asking people who live in the Village of Amherst to shelter in place and stay away from windows.

    Armed and dangerous suspect 32-year-old Jeffrey Miller is wanted in Sauk County after leading officers on a chase and firing shots injuring one officer Tuesday.

    Portage County, Stevens Point Police, and the Marathon County Special Response Teams responded to a scene at 450 Mill Avenue. Miller fled into the house and began shooting at police.

    News 3 Now affiliate NewsChannel 7 report that Stevens Point Police and teams are working to remove Miller from the home. Power has been cut to area buildings as a result.

    Numerous law enforcement tactics have been deployed, but the suspect has not surrendered. Police will remain on scene until the situation is resolved.
