    Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Alleghany, Surry and Wilkes Counties in NC

    A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the following NC counties: Alleghany, Surry and Wilkes.

    These areas are expected to get between 1 to 3 inches of snow on Monday at 4am through Tuesday at 7am. Avoid travel in these areas if possible. Use caution when driving during morning and evening commutes as road conditions will likely be hazardous during these times.

    The National Weather Service issued the following statement:

    "WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 4 AM MONDAY TO 7 AM EST TUESDAY...

    WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches.

    WHERE...Portions of northwest North Carolina and southwest Virginia.

    WHEN...From 4 AM Monday to 7 AM EST Tuesday.

    IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening commute.

    ADDITIONAL DETAILS... Wind chills will be in the mid teens to upper 20s by Monday morning.

    Instructions:Slow down and use caution while traveling. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1."
