Wake Forest Student and NC Radio Host's Daughter Dies from Blood Clot Complications

Janey Thompson, the daughter of WBT radio host Bo Thompson, unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday night due to complications that stemmed from a blood clot.

Janey, who graduated from Myers Park High School in 2022, was a sophomore biophysics major at Wake Forest University, according to WBT.

WBT announced, “The WBT and Radio One family are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Bo Thompson’s daughter, Janey, there are no words to provide adequate comfort under these circumstances, but we are committed to supporting Bo and his family in any way possible during this difficult time. We know that the WBT community of listeners joins us in prayers for the Thompson family.”

Myers Park High School posted on social media, “It is with great sadness that we share that Janey Thompson (MPHS – ‘22) passed away as a result of a blood clot in her leg that traveled to her heart, Janey loved MP and was loved by so many of our staff members and students. She played basketball and softball at MP.”

The family has not yet disclosed plans for honoring Janey's life. WBT promises to share that information as soon as it becomes available.
