Creative Learning Alliance reveals science center name

JOPLIN, Mo. (KOAM) - Today, the Creative Learning Alliance (CLA) announces the name of its future science center on the front lawn of its headquarters at 300 S. Main St.

This follows a public contest launched in December 2023, with the winning name chosen from 64 submissions by a CLA task force.

Alongside the name reveal, CLA will also kick off the public phase of its $6.5 million capital campaign to renovate the science center's permanent home. "This campaign is crucial to making the science center a reality," said CLA Executive Director Neely Myers.

The science center will feature interactive exhibits for all ages, aiming to foster curiosity and discovery.

Board President Audie Dennis said "We are extremely excited to announce not only the name of our region's new science center, but to move to the next step in our capital campaign as we seek to bring it to reality."

Myers added, "Our region is so in need of a science center and being part of that process is an honor. We have such a passionate Board and group of volunteers and working with this team makes every day a pleasure."
