Why Kelly Ripa Is Missing from 'Live' This Week

Viewers might be wondering why Kelly Ripa has been absent from Live! With Kelly and Mark for the past week, as Mark Consuelos has been helming the show solo with the help of the morning show’s announcer, Deja Vu , and actress Jane Krakowski .

While Ripa's husband and co-host didn't address her absence directly, it turns out the star has a big event coming up this weekend that she's likely prepping for.

Ripa is scheduled to be honored as a Disney Legend on Sunday, August 11, at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event .

The 53-year-old's former Live co-host Ryan Seacrest will host the Disney Legends Awards Ceremony at 5 p.m. at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, where Ripa will receive her award alongside other notable honorees including James Cameron , Jamie Lee Curtis , Miley Cyrus , Harrison Ford , and others.

“To be named a Disney Legend is the highest honor our company can bestow on anyone, reserved for those whose talent and achievement have earned them an enduring place in our history,” Bob Iger , Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company, is quoted as saying on the official Disney website .

“The fourteen individuals to be honored as Disney Legends this year have each made extraordinary creative contributions across the worlds of Disney and we look forward to celebrating them at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event," Iger continued.

This isn't the first time Ripa has been recognized for her accomplishments. She won six Daytime Emmy Awards and received both the Excellence in Media Award from GLAAD and Glamour ’s Woman of the Year Award. She even became a New York Times best-selling author when her collection Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories was published in 2022. Ripa also recently launched the second season of her popular podcast, Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa.

Ripa is set to be away from Live! for the remainder of the week, with John Stamos scheduled to fill in for her on August 8 and Michael Urie stepping in on August 9.
