St. Clair County sheriff gives Algonac activity report
At the Algonac City Council’s July 16 meeting, St. Clair County Sheriff Mat King presented the community’s activity report, as well as a 2023 annual county report. The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office provides police protection for Algonac residents and enforces all state laws and city criminal, civil and traffic ordinances within the city of Algonac. The current agreement for law enforcement services between Algonac and the St. Clair County Sheriff Office was approved by city council on July 6, 2021, to renew the contract for a three-year period from Oct. 1, 2021, through Sept. 30, 2024.
Michigan doctor sentenced to prison after patient dies of drug overdose
(CBS DETROIT) - A St. Clair Shores doctor was sentenced to 20 years in prison for unlawful prescribing after his patient died of a drug overdose, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced on Thursday.Dr. Bernard Shelton, 67, was found guilty of 21 charges related to unlawful distribution of prescription drugs. He has been banned from prescribing drugs since 2017.Federal officials said in 2010, Shelton prescribed opioids to a 54-year-old patient who was previously treated with prescription-strength Motrin. Charges amended for suspect in double shooting
CLINTON TOWNSHIP — The charges leveled against a Clinton Township man in connection to the shooting of his mother and brother on July 5 have been amended. Corey Deyshaun Cook, 24, allegedly shot his 27-year-old brother, Arkollin Dleon Cook, and his 49-year-old mother, Yolanda Cook, according to a press release from the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office. Yolanda Cook died at the scene. Arkollin Dleon Cook was on life support following the shooting. He died at a local hospital on July 13, according to the Macomb County Medical Examiner’s Office.

ST. CLAIR SHORES — Fifteen-year-old John Agnello didn’t have a second thought when it came to saving a person who drove into Lake St. Clair on July 23. According to a press release from the St. Clair Shores Police Department, both the police and the St. Clair Shores Fire Department were dispatched to Lake Front Park for the crash.
