Mayor Parker Rolls Out “Extended Day Extended Year” School Plan
Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker unveiled elements of her “Extended Day Extended Year” school pilot at a City Hall press conference on Thursday. The program is an issue on which she campaigned when running for mayor and will begin with 25 Philadelphia schools (20 public schools and 5 charters) and will comprise of “programming and special enrichment five days a week and for six weeks in the summer between the hours of 7:30 AM and 6 PM.”
