Children claim Anderson man bribed them with candy, raped them for years

ANDERSON, Ind. — A violent felon allegedly used candy to bribe young children before forcing himself upon them for sexual gratification, according to his victims.

Kevin E. Germain Jr., 41, of Anderson was arrested on June 28 on multiple preliminary charges of child molestation, a Level 1 felony, and sexual misconduct with a minor, a Level 4 felony.

According to court documents, the Anderson Police Department and the Department of Child Services began investigating Germain after two juveniles came forward and claimed Germain had been molesting and raping them for years.

According to the victim’s accusations, Germain would use candy to bribe one of the victims when they were a child ages 11 to 15. Germain would then force the victim to perform sexual acts on him.

The other victim said Germain’s sexual abuse went even further as he allegedly forcibly raped the child for years, starting when the victim was only 7 years old and occurring up until the time of his arrest.

According to the victims, Germain stressed that they couldn’t tell anybody about what he was doing to them because he didn’t want to go back to jail.

Court records show that Germain was convicted in 2011 of battery committed with a deadly weapon resulting in serious injury. He was sentenced to four years in prison.

Documents reveal when police spoke to Germain, he denied the victims’ allegations against him and claimed he never touched either child in a sexual manner.

The Madison County Prosecutor’s Office will determine what, if any, charges will be officially filed against Germain.

If charged and convicted of a Level 1 felony of child molestation, Germain could return to prison for up to 50 years.
