Road to state championship leads to Andover
ANDOVER — Andover Little League has history this time of year, as in developing very good baseball teams. The town has produced several teams that have gone on to district, sectional, state and New England regional Little League championships, including one that made it to Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa. in 1988.
Everett Little League 10-Year-Old Team Advances to Tourney Finals
The Everett Little League 10-year-old team has advanced to the championship round of the District 12 Tournament. The Everett contingent, led by head coach Billy Kotsiopoulos and assistant coach Michael Minichello, was set to play Melrose Tuesday at Lewis Monk Field in Melrose, hoping to set up a winner-take-all game for Saturday.

Marblehead softball little league teams give their all
The 2024 Marblehead softball little league U-10 all-star team went 2-2 in the District 16 tournament. These young Marblehead stars defeated Winthrop in the opener, 12-2, before losing to Peabody, 18-3 that put them in the losers bracket in this double-elimination tournament. They then bounced right back to beat Winthrop again, 18-3, that earned them a berth in the district finals, where they lost to Peabody again, 18-8. As a result, the junior Tanners were crowned the District 16 champs.
Five Crimson Women’s Rugby U20 Athletes Participate in Transatlantic Quad Series
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. –– Harvard women's rugby will have five athletes compete in Cardiff for the first ever Women's U20 Transatlantic Quad Series. Four athletes will represent the United States: Lennox London , Courtney Taylor , and Skylar Jordan , and Neasa McLaughlin (reserve). Ava Ference will join team Canada. London and Jordan are both sophomores who contributed to the success of the 15s season last fall. Sachem hockey great Matt Serino is back
Winthrop High School’s athletic director, a 2005 Saugus High School graduate, resigns to take Saugus AD job. Saugus High School hockey Hall of Famer Matthew Serino – the son of the late Sachems sports legend for whom the Christie Serino Jr. Memorial Stadium is named – has been hired as the Saugus School Department’s new Athletic and Wellness Director. Matthew Serino, who had worked for close to a decade as the athletic director of Winthrop High School, began working for his hometown School Department this week. He replaces Terri Pillsbury, who had been the athletic director since 2018. Her contract was not renewed.

Men's Lightweight Rowing Wins Big on Day One of Henley Royal Regatta
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. –– Harvard men's lightweight rowing's varsity eight won by open water on Tuesday, July 2nd. In the first day of competition at the Henley Royal Regatta, the varsity eight jumped out to an early lead vs. St. Edward's School and never looked back.
