Steve Earle: If teachers did their jobs, kept out of politics there would be no problem
Now about all those terrible people trying to "gut" public schools. We never heard any of this when I went to school back in the '50s/'60s or for that matter for the next three or four decades. There were the Catholic schools of course but no threat to government public schools and the threat now is only from these schools' own making. Instead of teaching fundamentals standards have been progressively reduced for the benefit of minorities whom left obviously considers to dumb to learn. They certainly are not it's substandard under funded Democratic city schools effect at fault over decades. Top that off these educators now push absurd "woke" nonsense as politicians try to take parental rights away saying children belong to the government (Adolf Hitler did that).

Lena Nirk: Commonsense first-time candidate for state representative

I believe that if we connect first on the values that we share for our families, communities and state, and we listen to each other, then it will be possible to agree on commonsense, bipartisan, fiscally responsible policies.
