Come See the Historical Society’s 2024 Exhibit at the Canterbury Fair!
The Canterbury Historical Society has mounted a new exhibit featuring the history of stores in Canterbury Center, located in the Elkins Memorial Building gallery space. The opening day will be the Canterbury Fair (Saturday, July 27th), and there will be other historical artifacts on display as well as history books and items for sale. The Houser Center One Room Schoolhouse (brick building beside the library) will also be open during the Fair, for visitors to see how a New England One Room School was set up in the 20th century. We invite you to come visit us at both buildings!

The 2024 Hospital Days begins August 1st thru the 3rd! You won’t want to miss all your old favorites as New London Hospital celebrates its 98th edition. On today’s show, our Elizabeth D’Orazio meets interim CEO Lauren Geddes Wirth. She’ll bring us up to speed on the current happenings here at your community hospital and Newport Health Center. We’ll hear the story of Annie Frye, one of the many craftspeople that will be showing with the League Fair at Mount Sunapee Resort. Sage Tokach, Education Director will give us a look at the program for kids offered at the New London Barn Playhouse year round. Tripp will give us a rundown on the balance of the 2024 Summer Music Associates season. And we’ll close with Laura McCrillis Kessler at Sunapee Harbor to tell us about another Murder Mystery on the Lake Queen.

6 Massachusetts residents charged in double murder that left 5 others injured
Lynn, Mass. – The Office of Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker has charged six suspects in connection to the drive-by shooting that left Jandriel Heredia, 21, of Revere, and Abraham Diaz, 25, of Lynn dead, and five others injured. The shooting took place at approximately 2:20 a.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at a gathering held at 189 Essex Street in Lynn. The following defendants have been charged with two counts of murder: Justin Alba, 25, of Peabody; and Lynn residents Darwin Batista, 20; Yefferson Vallecillo Cambar, 22; Carlos Ramirez Corniel, 16; Leonardo Espinoza, 15; and Abel Severino Reyes, 21.
